–Calm rooms for breaks

LEARN, HUNT, BUY…MOREL MUSHROOMS

Join us at the Jordan Block (100 Main Street) where you can shop and peruse a large Botanical Market and Morel Market featuring everything… you guessed it… MUSHROOMS! We’ll even host MOREL UNIVERSITY, where you’ll learn to identify morels, so you know exactly what to look for on your guided hunt. (Please note: The educational hunt has limited availability.) In loving memory of Tom Nauman—our founding father from Morel Mania—this event exists because of his passion and vision. Without Tom, none of this would be possible.

The Starved Rock Country Marathon kicks off in the heart of downtown Ottawa, a vibrant and historic riverside community. From the starting line, runners embark on a scenic journey along the Illinois River, winding through lush landscapes and tranquil views. The course leads participants through the breathtaking trails of Starved Rock State Park, where towering sandstone bluffs, challenging elevation changes, and natural rock formations create a uniquely inspiring backdrop. This picturesque route combines small-town charm with the untamed beauty of nature, making it a truly unforgettable race experience.

Get ready for a kite festival of high-flying fun for all ages!  This 2-day event will feature professional kite flying demonstrations from the Chicago Kite Company, a designated area for kids/family kite flying, children’s live entertainment, a candy drop, balloon artist, face painting, dunk tank, food and craft vendors, and more!  Kites will be for sale on-site, but families are also encouraged to bring their own kites for fly the sunny skies.

Barktoberfest!

We will be serving from 10-3 PM for Bill’s Barktoberfest on Jordan Block.

Bill Walsh Sr. was an avid dog lover and a huge supporter of anything that had to do with man’s best friend. Join us as we honor his legacy to the community of Ottawa with the second annual Barktoberfest!

All proceeds will be donated to Bill’s Barking Lot, the new city dog park in downtown Ottawa.

Ottawa Scarecrow Festival

Look for Aussem Dogs at 2024 Scarecrow Festival!

For almost 40 years, the Ottawa Scarecrow Festival has brought the tradition of welcoming Fall to the area in full swing with pumpkins, hay rides, craft vendors, and, of course, scarecrows! We will be filling the Downtown area with scarecrows created by local families, businesses, and classrooms, and we will be inviting the food and craft vendors to come and join us as we listen to live music and enjoy the crisp Fall weather. You can expect pumpkin painting crafts, puppet shows, and the 4H petting zone to be there, and this year we are adding a family Hoedown at dusk, with banjos, fiddles, games, and so much more!
